Each day thousands of children headed off to school with their lunch safely inside one of these metal lunch boxes. They are particularly rare with the very breakable Thermos bottle intact. Produced both in black and red. From Aladdin Industries, this is the 1958 version.
The lunch boxes were fairly sturdy, but it didn't take much to destroy the Thermos bottle inside. The metal case itself was pretty strong, but as many of us found out the hard way, dropping it or letting it get a good bang had the sad result of destroying the glass liner inside.
The 1960s syndication brought a new wave of merchandise. Some was simply reissued using the original designs, but others were updated. Aladdin Industries brought back their popular lunch box, but this time out it was fabricated out of plastic instead of metal. They also updated the Thermos bottle, making it more durable than the first version. It would have been nice to see this with the original artwork.
This metal candy tin was produced in France by Sorfim.
This set of water glasses was released in France during the syndication run.

I believe I got this plastic boot-shaped mug at an event at the Studio in the late '70s or early '80s.
Ever try to break a piece of Melmac? It's no wonder so much of this has survived over the years. If only the Thermos bottles had been this indestructible!
Synopsis of Lunch Box
Still going strong with syndicated reruns of his Disney series in the 1960's, that dashing masked swordsman known as Zorro rode into action on this 1966 lunchbox with matching steel thermos. Of Zorro’s prowess with the sword you all surely know, but the man in black took his lunchbox’s second large side to show off his skills with the whip. You can take away Zorro’s sword, but you can’t take away his noble fighting spirit (or his cape. He really likes his cape).
